Here at Vilda we’re massive fans of the growing vegan wedding trend – so when we found out that an actual vegan wedding fair was coming to Los Angeles, we were beyond curious. If you’re planning your big day, this is the perfect event to dream and get inspired to create an unforgettable event that’s free from cruelty.

Taking place in Los Angeles (because where else?) on September 8th, the Kind & Luxe Bridal Boutique is an idea born from a collaboration between Daniela Degrassi, founder of vegan bridal online community The Kind Bride; and Laura Frecon, founder of ethical marketplace Verte Luxe. The event will take place at the Bel Air Tree House and will showcase all aspects of a compassionate wedding celebration – from the (silk-free) dress to the (fully plant-based) menu.

“Combining my experience working as a wedding photographer for over 15 years and my passion for veganism, I created The Kind Bride in February 2018 with the goal of providing vegan wedding resources and inspiration for vegan couples planning their wedding,” says Daniela. “Within the first year of blogging, I’ve been pleasantly surprised to witness the number of real vegan weddings we have featured, making me realise that there is an
important gap in the wedding industry at present. Vegan couples are only
able to find their wedding suppliers through online resources! With the Luxe and Kind Bridal Boutique I wanted to close the gap and connect vegan wedding suppliers to likeminded couples, so they can plan their special day minus a few headaches!”

Some of the highlights that vegan brides and grooms can look forward to at The Kind & Luxe Bridal Boutique include an unveiling of two new designs from eco-friendly wedding dress provider Silviyana Bridal – a brand that uses innovative materials such as banana fibre as a vegan silk alternative. Wedding-appropriate shoes from Veerah will be showcased, and PETA will hold a presentation illustrating the ways animals are exploited in the wedding industry, and share tips on having a cruelty-free celebration.

“From silk-free wedding dresses and leather-free shoes to delicious vegan catering and animal-friendly decorations and honeymoon destinations, it’s as easy as saying, ‘I do,’ to show some love for animals when planning a wedding,” says PETA President Ingrid Newkirk. “PETA toasts Kind & Luxe Bridal Boutique for helping couples make that wonderful day a compassionate occasion.”

On the stage with PETA, event founders Daniela and Laura will also host a a panel discussion with wedding-industry professionals who will aim to answer any questions that visitors might have around planning a cruelty-free wedding.  A special raffle will also be held courtesy of Green Maya Eco Tours, an eco-friendly travel company donating a day filled with eco-experiences around the Yucatan Peninsula: the lucky winner will go swimming in the Cenotes, view archeological sites, go on nature tours and visit a sanctuary, ending the day with a sunset celebratory dinner.

Other compassionate vendors present on the day include local floral supplier Rose Lane Farms, vegan and sustainably minded wedding planners Opus Events, cruelty-free beauty experts, organic and sustainable gift specialists SudSource, as well as vegan photographers Eve Rox Photography and The Hendrys – who will be sharing the details of what makes photography not vegan! The music entertainment is provided by vegan DJ Cali Miles of Special Events DJZ.

So if you are thinking of getting married or planning a wedding – get to LA asap, as you won’t want to miss this event. Tickets are available here.
