The heat is here for real! At least here in Sweden at the moment. Though, to be fair, it doesn’t take a lot for us in the north to call it a heat wave. At the slightest hint of sunshine, we break out our flats, slides, loafers, espadrilles, sandals and (my personal favourite this season) mules. And there’s no resisting the allure of slipping on a pair of open-toe sandals when attending a rooftop bar (I love Frank’s in London and Tak in Stockholm), sitting outdoors sipping on a plant-based ice latte or any time when you simply just want to take advantage of the weather and show of your shoes.
For this summer season, I got to try out vegan heels from Swedish shoe and accessory brand Love Sofie. This high-end label is entirely vegan and PVC-free, which makes their designs that bit kinder to the environment. They craft their plant leather by mixing polyurethane with plant oils including corn and soybean oil in order to create a leather-like material. All the cotton used by the brand is organic, and other materials used include post-consumer upcycled denim and recycled polyester.
Aside from the environmental aspects and the elegant designs, the reasons why I loved the shoes were mainly the following:
- Heels can be a pain, but these are actually comfortable!
- Each pair works perfectly at work as well as for a fancy dinner out.
Here are the four Love Sofie heels you can’t miss out on this summer.
Yellow Jeune stiletto, Love Sofie / Jeans, Vintage Levi’s / Shirt, Weekday / Bag, Granit
The stiletto. Wear your heels with a pair of distressed jeans. The combination of casual denim and sophisticated heels creates a cool-girl vibe.
Cornelia peep-top plateau, Love Sofie / Shirt, Weekday / Bag, Topshop / Sunglasses, second hand
The peep-toe. Go for an edgy 90s look by styling these heels with a pair of military green cargo trousers. This versatile pair also works with a boho-style skirt, a simple white shirt and some on-trend cat-eye sunglasses.
Black Jazz stiletto, Love Sofie / Suit, Monki / Bag, Topshop
The little black shoe. Black heels are every bit as essential in any wardrobe as the little black dress. Team this sleek pair with a sharp suit for an office-appropriate look.
Multi-coloured Zorag block-heel, Love Sofie / Culottes, H&M / T-shirt, Weekday
The pop of colour. How can one not love culottes during the summer season? Make these simple black ones a bit more fun by adding patterned block heel sandals that inject some colour.
Special thanks to Love Sofie.
