Brave the Cold in Style With These Vegan Coats

Winter coats have for a long time been seen as the final frontier of vegan fashion – while choice is abundant for bags, shoes and apparel, things do tend to get a bit trickier when chilly times approach. But vegan fashion has come a long way since pioneer brand Vaute first introduced the idea of sustainable, high-quality vegan coats with no wool. These days, you can take your pick from high-tech parkas, luxe faux furs and sleek, classic coats at the click of a mouse. This winter, we have picked some of our favourites that will keep you warm all winter, whatever style you choose.

Belden Future in Forest, Vaute

This coat might seem like it’s nothing but a looker, but its credentials go way beyond style – insulated with PrimaLoft, this design will never let you get cold. It’s crafted from organic vegan moleskin and recycled fibres and lined with windproof ripstop to combine fashion and functionality in one must-have style.

Wear with: a structured day dress and ankle boots.

Naoko Handwoven Coat, People Tree

The perfect neutral, easy-to-match design is made by a Fair Trade group in Bangladesh and is completely hand-woven.

Wear with: skinny jeans, Chelsea boots and a cable knit.

Elixir Coat, Unreal Fur

The ultimate luxury coat. This is a true statement piece – supremely soft and warm, this is the one style you need to prove that there is no excuse for wearing real fur anymore. Go Unreal instead.

Wear with: the most sparkling, glamorous evening dress you have.

Ladies’ Nordic Light Parka, HoodLamb

Wool and fur are not the only enemies of compassionate coat-shoppers – we also need to keep an eye out for down feathers. HoodLamb uses ThermoDown vegan lining in their jackets, and the outer shell is made from organic cotton.

Wear with: jeans and a beanie. This is the ultimate cold-weather style, for those days when you wish you didn’t have to leave the house.

The Unisex Winter Parka, Everlane

Featuring a reassuringly cosy oversized unisex fit, this is the ultimate design for merciless winters. Free from down, wool and fur, this PrimaLoft-insulated style was made for the cold.

Wear with: a light knit and a chunky scarf.

Heather Leopard Coat, Jakke

A fun and playful design to brighten up those dark and dreary winter days. On the occasions when you are tired of basics and find yourself craving daring prints, this leopard number is the way to go.

Wear with: your LBD.
