My Sun and Stars: Celestial-Themed Vegan Fashion

My name is Sascha and I am a star-print addict.

At present time, I am the proud owner of a star-print dress (bought on the day I got engaged, in Venice!), a pair of star-print Converse, a silver bracelet with gold-toned star decorations, an organic cotton t-shirt with a star print, a sweater that looks exactly like the one in the header photo, and a three-star tattoo. I had a pair of star earrings that I kept losing and re-buying, and the last time I lost them, they were no longer in the shop’s sortiment. But there you go.

Luckily for me, stars are almost always a trend. Take a glance at the sortiment of your favourite online shops at any given time and almost certainly you will find something with a celestial print. In fact, one of my favourite things to do when I should be doing something more important is to go on a random fashion website and write “star print” in the search box, then proceed to salivate over what appears. So you can imagine the fun I had putting together this edit of the best of sky-themed vegan fashion. Enjoy, hope you’ll love it as much as I do!

Oyster Dress Estrella, Reformation

Not only stars, but moons, too – two for the price of one! And with this Reformation dress, your conscience will stay clear in knowing that you saved 15lbs of CO2, 47 gallons of water and 1.1lbs of waste compared to industry standard.

Wear with: black slim sandals.

Star Mini Clutch in Navy, People Tree

This cotton and glass bead clutch was made by Indian Fair Trade fashion brand Pushpanjali, which helps disadvantaged artisans improve their conditions by offering training, medical assistance and fair wages.

Wear with: jeans and a ruffled blouse.

Never Let Me Go Star Top, Nasty Gal

Two top trends – stars and ruffles – make up this statement piece of a top. You’ll look truly stellar in this piece, as long as you keep the rest of your look minimal.

Wear with: black skinnies.

Christina Chiffon Romper, VAUTE

Made from recycled fibers, this romper is wrinkle-resistant, making it the perfect travel companion. Word of warning: it’s part of a limited-edition capsule collection, so once it’s gone, it’s gone!

Wear with: a black blazer on a breezy summer night.

Indium Elyse Star Shoes, Stella McCartney

The queen of vegan accessories has created another classic: following the Falabella bag, the Elyse shoe is topping many a fashionista’s most-wanted list. Starting a trend without resorting to using animal skins: now, that’s our kind of style inspiration.

Wear with: a nude-tone slip dress and a biker jacket.

Black Star Velvet Sweater, Nobody’s Child

Nobody’s Child is the London brand aiming to make cheap fashion more ethical by taking control of factories and keeping their knitting plant, dye house, printing facilities and distribution centre local in the UK. Low-cost fashion with a conscience? It’s intriguing.

Wear with: a mini skirt and ankle boots.

Tada & Toy Rose Gold Hoop Earrings, The Acey

These delicate star-shaped hoops plated in rose gold over sterling silver were created by British brand Tada & Toy, which gives a part of the proceeds to the Aspinall Foundation, a charity dedicated to returning endangered species to the wild. A true star of a brand!

Wear with: absolutely everything.

Star Print Satin Long Sleeve Shirt & Pant Pajama Set, ASOS

My idea of luxury is waking up on a sunny Saturday morning to the smell of fresh coffee, and having breakfast on the balcony wearing this soft, satiny, star-print PJs. Perfection: found.

Wear with: nothing, duh!
