Last week, were lucky enough to be invited to vegan fashion brand Vaute Couture ’s first annual summer party at Aurora Lamp Works in Brooklyn, to celebrate the launch of their new swim line. Welcoming the first tastes of summer while lounging in a sunny backyard and drinking amazing cocktails from Black Market, party goers got to see a model presentation of the new collection.
Other treats were shells by the Squeeze and V Spot Empanadas, and doughnuts from my favorite, Dun-Well Doughnuts. As the brand’s founder Leanne Mai-ly Hilgart is a dedicated activist, the night also doubled as a fundraiser for the wonderful Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary!
The new swim line embodies all summer stands for: beautiful jewel tones mingle effortlessly with intricate, colourful prints in shapes that enhance a vast variety of body types. The suits are made from recycled carpet fibers and cut and sewn locally in NYC.
Also included in the new line are vegan chiffon dresses, perfect from going from the beach straight into town, and organic cotton bodysuits as well as dead stock sun hats. The sun hats while super chic and gorgeous, also have the added cache of being made in one of America’s remaining hat factories!
If anyone knows how to make a magical summer Vegan Wonderland, it’s Leanne and her wonderful team! Vaute showcases over and over again, how cruelty can be taken out of fashion and consumers’ lives, without sacrificing style. From the hair and makeup to the food and drinks, animals are never an ingredient at a Vaute party.
My only regret is I didn’t have time before I turned back into a pumpkin to make a vegan S’more with Dandies marshmallows and haute chocolate at the S’mores pit.
