More and more fashion companies are realising their customers’ growing interest in sustainable choices and shoe brand Vagabond is no exception. The brand is launching a new line of vegan shoes, fittingly named Non animal, where both material and glue is free from any animal derived products.
– Non animal is a result of increased demand from our customers in different markets, says Anna Fahle Björcke, Brand Manager at Vagabond. -Some of our target audience is actively seeking an alternative to leather, which we want to accommodate. We believe in the awareness of consumption as well as openness to alternative materials in the future,
Conscious fashionistas won’t have to choose between design and quality, as Vagabond hasn’t compromised on either in the creation of the shoes. The whole product line is made from high quality synthetic materials and the shoes all have an insole of cork for extra comfort. A significant part of the process has been to develop non-animal based glue with the same characteristics and durability as the glue used for shoe production today.
The vegan shoes will be launched in March, 2016 in all Vagabond concept stores and at vagabond.com. The collection consists of 5 shoe models for women and the company has high hopes that it will remain a permanent feature in Vagabond’s shoe selection.
For all the fellas out there interested in something similar there’s good news; Anna Fahle Björcke told Vilda exclusively that they are looking into how they can develop this concept into men’s shoes, adding that it would be great if they could do something within this area shortly.
