Unless you’re living under a rock, you probably have noticed that the 70s vibes are everywhere this season. Flowers, flared trousers, platform wedges and fringed detailing was all over the SS15 catwalks.
But this is not the simplest of trends: styling an outfit like this without looking too literal might be easier said than done, unless you’re going for that ‘just got out of a time tunnel’ (or a vintage shop) look. But here, we are going to approach the 70s in a more 2015 way.
To make things easier, we’ve chosen three styles straight from the SS15 runways that have the 70s vibe we need and rounded up the best cruelty-free picks to recreate them. Check it out and choose your favorite.
In Bloom
I have a thing for florals. Even though I’m usually an advocate of all-black, I really appreciate bright patterns with flower motifs. They are so chic, colourful and vivid even on a black background. Florals were everywhere on the runways, most of them with a hint of the 70s.

3. Vintage Priscilla Jumpsuit at Nasty Gal
Flared Denim
Thank God flared denim came along to give us some time off from our skinnies! Let’s be honest – as much as we might love the skinny, it’s not exactly cut out to fit all body types. Flares, on the other hand, flatter most figures, adding a sleek sense of proportion. Add a modern blouse to update the look or go for a jumper, like this organic one from Stella McCartney.

3. Hudson Taylor High-Waist Flared Jeans, Saks Fift Avenue
Gipsy Inspirations
The gipsy-inspired dress with see-through detailing is an easy way to channel bohemian chic without looking too obvious. These floaty styles bring a Woodstock touch – but the black background keeps the look away from the ‘earthy hippie’ zone and lends a rock n’roll finish.

2. Bell Sleeve Dress, Free People
3. Canina Dress, Anthropologie
