Meet Team Vilda: Food Writer Hannah Ellis

Even if we are first and foremost a fashion magazine, there’s no denying food will always be central to the vegan lifestyle. This is why we’re so glad to have Food Writer Hannah on board – she’s shared masterpieces from brownies to breakfast, Vilda classics such as the Chocolate Mocha Tower and innovative recipes like the vegan “fish” cakes. A true foodie, Hannah is also an actress and blogger – read her guide to cruelty-free living at Oops I’m a Vegan. We caught up with Hannah for 15 questions.

1. Where in the world are you based?

Manchester, England

2. What do you love about being on Team Vilda?

Collaborating with such talented, like-minded and brilliant ladies! I also love

being pushed out of my comfort zone and writing about things I don’t usually –

like products, fashion and beauty.

3. What’s your favourite piece that you’ve done for Vilda?

Probably my Vegan in Manchester article. It was so nice promoting vegan-friendly places and giving them a shout-out.

4. Describe your personal style in three words.

Preppy, chic, second-hand.

5. Who are your style icons?

Cate Blanchett, Twiggy and Taylor Swift. Look – judge me all you like, but

Taylor Swift dresses like a dream! She always looks flawless and I want her

entire wardrobe. Guilty.

6. What’s your favourite food?

Dates. I am addicted to dates. Also – sweet potato wedges with hummus.

Can’t get enough of the stuff.

7. What’s the last song you listened to?

“Wonderwall” cover by Ryan Adams

8. What are some places that you dream of visiting?

I am having a real European love affair since moving to England. Italy is my number one spot to next visit. I’m desperate to go to Florence, rent a car, explore the countryside and drink Italian red wine!

9. What would you do if you won £10million in the lottery tomorrow?

Owning property seems like a dream right now, so buying a house is up there! Then, I’d pay off all my family and friend’s debts, invest in real estate, take everyone out for dinner and donate a HEAP of money to the animal rights movement and various charities. The rest – SAVINGS.

10. If you were reincarnated as an animal, what would you be?

Hopefully a horse… strong, independent, majestic…. I have always loved

horses.

11.What’s your favourite colour?

Weirdly – black. I love the colour black and it’s definitely my favourite to wear.

12.What’s the scariest thing you’ve ever done?

Trusting my gut, leaving Australia and all my loved ones to pursue Acting overseas. Massive risk, but it’s paying off.

13.Would you do it again?

Yes, yes, a thousand times “yes”. It’s so true that you have to bet big to win big. In my experience –when I take big risks and put things out there – the universe rewards! I live under the mantra of “you only live once” and we really do have to make the most of it.

14.Who would play you in a movie about your life?

Anna Paquin or Claire Danes! I love them. They are both brilliant actors, but also very expressive, as I am! My face is a bloody expressive face….

15.What’s your favourite quote?

“Be the change you wish to see in the world” – Ghandi.
