Energy Boosting Breakfasts

Breakfast is hands-down my favourite meal.

It may sound corny – but it literally and figuratively sets you up for the day.

After years of jumping around all over the place, finding “what works for me”, trying big breakfasts, green juices, 10-banana smoothies and all sorts of things, I have settled on having quite a big breakfast every morning so I can be full of energy and not have to even worry about food until lunch time.

Food should not make you tired: food should make you feel awake. Food is fuel, energy, life! Get in a lot of the good stuff and be prepared to feel more alert, attentive and USEFUL to people around you.

Here are five energy-boosting breakfasts to set you up for a fantastic day!

In a hurry?

Nothing beats fruit! Natures real “fast food”. Cut up whatever fruit you love most and devour as much as you please. I love having mangoes and bananas together as they taste amazing, are a great source of calories and will leave you feeling satisfied!

Blueberries are another fantastic addition to any breakfast.



Porridge with any kind of crazy, adventurous toppings! The above is a phenomenal porridge I ate out one morning with shredded coconut, agave syrup, and strawberries.

Usually at home I’ll use blueberries, cinnamon and Flaxseed 🙂


Green smoothie – 1 cucumber, chopped up, 2 stalks of Kale, 1/2 avocado, 1 banana, 2 pitted dates and water. You can add a tablespoon of agave syrup for extra sweetness if you wish.

You’ll be amazed how long a smoothie can keep you full for! Also, if you have a busy morning ahead, smoothies are perfect for having “on the go”.

Simplistic, No-Fuss?

Avocado on Toast for the win.

Morning off?

Vegan big breakfast! The options are endless, but this version is my favourite.

All it takes is to fill your plate with divine, vegan breakfast things! Start by sauteing off some mushrooms and spinach with garlic, rosemary and olive oil. Heat up some traditional baked beans, grill a lovely tomato, half an avocado and slice up prettily, add sourdough toast…. delicious! And THEN: to really wow your friends: make up a lovely, healthy vegan potato cake. Simply chop up 2 potatoes into large chunks and boil until they are soft (keep the skin on). Once cooked, mash these up with a teaspoon of All Spice, 1 stalk of Rosemary leaves, salt, pepper and a generous dollop of vegan butter. Form into patties with your hands and fry off in a little bit of Olive Oil. Trust me: they are amazing!
